Custom Painted Portrait Information

The Painted Portrait Process...For Portraits on Canvas from your photo

1. As soon as I receive your order, I will email you to confirm your request. The photos should be at least 4" x 6" for prints or 1280 x 960 pixels for digital files (jpeg). More than one photo can be combined in one painting. The photographs should show a reasonable amount of detail, be well-lit and in focus. I will paint the background in a shaded manner (you will be able to approve the color and texture). Extra charges may be added for:

Portraits with more than two people. I've painted portraits with many people and also from multiple photos of the same subject.
Paintings based on very small or poor photographs.
Highly personalized portraits, such as those with complicated scenery, or complex clothing such as wedding gowns or uniforms.

2. I will design the initial composition and an image will be sent via sketches or email attachments for you to approve.

3. Once the initial layout is approved, I will begin. Updated images of the art will be sent via email or the internet as I work on the project. You will be able to provide your suggestions and input at every stage of the painting. I welcome your ideas, after all this is your painting!

5. When I'm finished a final image will be sent for your approval. At this point we may discuss framing options. You will be asked to send the total payment via check or I will send an invoice for you to pay securely through the PayPal website.

6. When I receive payment, your finished painting on canvas will be stretched, framed (if desired, ask me about custom framing), then carefully packed and shipped via U.S.P.S. ( or hand delivered locally)

I do not charge an up-front deposit. No funds are required to initiate an order and will not be required until you have approved the final image prior to shipping. In addition, your portrait is unconditionally guaranteed for 30 days after you receive it. If it's not absolutely, totally perfect I'll give you a 100% refund.
